About this place
For a drink to enjoy alongside skewers, consider Shinsei’s nama genshu, described as full-bodied and slightly dry. One diner paired the sake with yakitori at Torisei Kyobashi, where chicken skewers are available with tare or salt and include a range of cuts, such as thigh, negima, gizzard and sasami. Another visitor had salted chicken skin with sake, then enjoyed dengaku-style grilled nama-fu while waiting for the skewers, followed by overnight-dried chicken and dry sake. The chicken is grilled until golden, bringing out its distinctive texture.
For a lighter drink, there is also a tipsy set. One diner who ordered Set A chose nama genshu with a drink, an appetiser and yakitori skewers. The restaurant can suit a casual drink and a chance to sample a few types of skewers, or a meal with friends over a course that includes all-you-can-drink.
At lunch, rice dishes such as torimeshi and oyakodon are joined by tori ramen made with chicken broth. One diner described the lunch torimeshi as chicken topped with a sweetish sauce, eaten together with the rice. Some lunch sets come with salad and soup; a diner who ordered chicken nanban noted the tender chicken and generous tartare sauce.
Seating includes tatami rooms, Japanese-modern tables and a counter. The menu centres on chicken, with options ranging from lunchtime set meals to an evening spent over skewers and sake.
